POLITICS becomes a cul-de-sac once it is determined by calculation of force. When politics loses the call to go beyond its own measured steps, it just goes back and forth in the same place, a dead end. Its actors become content riders on the merry-go-round; they accept the fact that politics is a contest to achieve not glorious and difficult things, but just what is possible.
