THE serious security threat in the Straits of Malacca has apparently annoyed Admiral Thomas Boulton Fargo. The US Commander of the Asia-Pacific region bluntly stated that he would clean up the busiest straits in the world from the various acts of piracy and terrorism. His method? He would like to deploy Uncle Sam's troops, particularly the US Marines, to the area measuring 800 kilometers in length and traversed by 50,000 ships each year.
