ECONOMIC growth in Indonesia during 2007 was recorded as the highest of the last 10 years. The slowing down of the world economy, triggered by the subprime mortgage crisis in the US, has apparently not greatly influenced the Indonesian economy. The economy of this country still grew rapidly by some 6.3 percent. Interest rate reductions succeeded in lifting consumption as well as attracting investment.
