SAPARDI Djoko Damono reconfirms that lyrical poetry is Indonesian poetry itself. Through his book of poetry, Kolam, the writer who was born in Solo on March 20, 1940, perpetuates the dominant role of lyrical poetry in this country’s literary world, pioneered by Amir Hamzah and Chairil Anwar, and fulfills another field not filled by poetry of the kind Goenawan Mohamad writes.
