It is no accident that those who have courageously made refreshing breakthroughs in 2010 are for the most part young people. Here are the leading figures in the arts in 2010 selected by Tempo.

2010 was a year of the arts. Suddenly Jakarta was full of arts events, especially performances held throughout the year. Something which will hopefully continue in 2011.
Two international-scale festivals, Festival Salihara and the Indonesian Art Summit, for example, were held almost at the same time last October. Both presented the latest works of performing artists from Indonesia and abroad.
