IT turns out that Wahid Hasyim was a journalist. Many of his writings were published in the Suluh Nahdlatul Ulama. One of his works published in August 1941 was entitled ‘Abdullah Oebayd as an Educator’. He began the first line thus: “One day brother Abdullah Oebayd came to our house with his two sons who were still children. The first was seven and the second was about five. This happened around mid-1936....”
