Apart from watching out for environmental issues, the Indonesian Forum for the Environment (Walhi) IN Aceh has also exposed various corruption practices LINKED TO THE EXPLOITATION OF natural resources. It has helped to create the anticorruption movement.

A movement spear-headed by T. Muhammad Zulfikar finally resulted in a major case ending up in court. In December, the State Administrative Court of Banda Aceh opened the trial of the Rawa Tripa case. This was a lawsuit filed by the Executive Director of the Indonesian Forum for the Environment (Walhi) in Aceh and his colleagues against Aceh Governor Irwandy Yusuf.
