There is little that can be done by Junaindra Sumawan as the dry season finally hits West Sumatra and affects rubber sap production at his plantation in Koto Baru District, Dharmasraya. Under a normal condition, the 32-year-old is able to collect 2.4 tons of rubber per month. Today, due to the amount of falling rubber leaves, he can only collect 1.68 tons. "The falling leaves cause the sap to shrink," he said on Monday last week.
