A RESTAURANT at the Hotel Sari Pan Pacific in Jakarta was a favorite meeting place of Prabowo Subianto and Siti Hediati Hariyadi, known as Titiek Suharto. "They often had lunch here," said Ron Mueller, the restaurant's manager, recalling the events of more than 30 years ago.

Mueller, the owner of Papa Ron's Pizza, said he met Prabowo and Hashim Djojohadikusumo, Prabowo's younger brother, in 1978. It was a chance meeting, as Anie Harjanti, Hashim's fiancee, worked in public relations at the Sari Pan Pacific.
