NEARLY every night Maj. Gen. Syamsu Djalaludin stayed up late to complete the questioning file on Lt. Gen. Prabowo Subianto and the Rose Team after the abduction of pro-democracy activists was exposed in August 1998. Syamsu, commander of the Military Police Center, was racing the clock so he could quickly turn over the results of the questioning to the commander of the Indonesian Armed Forces (ABRI), General Wiranto.
