When he attended the Asian Leadership and Asian Public Management Forum in Japan early this April, Eko Prasojo, 45, discovered something interesting. Indonesia was admired for its innovative efforts to remedy its bureaucratic climate for investment. "Japan is very appreciative of our efforts, because they have grown stagnant, while Indonesia has only just started to innovate creatively," he told Tempo.
In Japan, this former vice minister for State Apparatus and Bureaucratic Reform, presented a number of bureaucratic innovation introduced during the presidency of Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono. Eko graduated from the Deutsche Hochschule fur Verwaltungswissenschaften in Speyer, Germany, in 2003. His research and analysis on the subject has made him an expert in Indonesian public policy.
