Sultan Agung attacked Batavia twice, once in 1628 and again the following year. The first attack was commanded by Tumenggung Bahurekso, from Tegal. The second was led by Adipati Ukur. In the second assault, the Mataram troops set up rice granaries in Cirebon, Gebang and Karawang.
