Anna Sembiring, Polin Museum Curator
Conserving the Past

Tuesday, August 11, 2015

From her workspace on the second floor, Anna Sembiring monitors the inside of Polin Museum, located at the heart of Warsaw, Poland's capital. The tools are essential for 36-year-old Sembiring, whose work is to research and restore historical artifacts to be exhibited at the Polin Museum.

Anna became the senior curator at the Jewish Museum established by the Polish Ministry of Culture and the Association of the Jewish Historical Institute of Poland, one year ago. Her job is heavy and cumbersome. One of them is to examine all exhibits, mainly those made of paper and leather. For that is her unusual expertise: the conservation of paper and leather products.
