To Live One Thousand More Years

In one of his poems, Chairil Anwar said of himself,
I am a wild beast
Driven from the herd
But at the end of the poem, he was more optimistic:
I want to live a thousand more years!
However, in the final year of his life, he realized that what he wanted was impossible: Life is just delaying defeatbefore we finally succumb.
