Marthen Indey’s Life in Papua after Retirement

Marthen Indey served for the MPRS before spending the rest of his life in Papua. He ended up renting his house for cinema screening to make ends meet.

NICODEMUS Risakota, 72, broke into tears as he was recollecting his past while holding a photo of Marthen Indey and family. His recount of his adoptive father’s life palpably overwhelmed him. It was a story of someone who had dedicated life to fight for the freedom of Papua from the Dutch, but found himself fighting for life survival in his twilight years.
