IN one court session in Central Jakarta, Sainah binti Takrip, a woman from a hamlet in Central Java, set a record in the judicial history in Indonesia: she went against Tommy Suharto when nearly all witnesses supported the favorite child of former president Suharto. She taught us something important which had long disappeared from the courtrooms in this country: to have the courage to speak honestly when sitting in the witness box.
