When the Bandung Conference took place on April 18, 1955, some of the major and populous countries of Asia had emerged into freedom. But anti-colonial struggles were still going on in other parts of Asia, and more so in Africamost of which were still under colonial rule, with the colonial powers trying to strengthen their grips.
