I MADE Mangku Pastika spent much of his childhood surrounded by his fathers books, at his family home in the village of Musi, Buleleng district, on Balis northern shores. He would pore over books written in English, Dutch, Japanese, and of course, Indonesian. It was there that Pastika discovered the Mahabarata and Ramayana epics.
