DOMESTIC and foreign theater researchers attending the Indonesian Theater Forum in Surakarta last week generally shared the view that the dramas of Putu Wijaya are typical and original. According to Michael Bodden, a professor at the University of Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, no other dramatists have yet written in the style similar or bearing some semblance to Putu’s.
