THE Regency of Kuantan Sengingi, located in the Province of Riau, is famous for its boat races, known colloquially as Pacu Jalur. The boats are unique, made of big whole logs with holes carved inside and at its ends to look like long boats. Rowed by about 60 people, these boat races are indeed a picturesque and exciting event. The local government has named Pacu Jalur the main tourist attraction of the regency, which is held on the Kuantan River,
