Tanjung Puting: Borneo at its Best

ESTABLISHED in 1936, this is one of the largest lowland reserves in all of Indonesia. With more than 300,000 hectares, the reserve lies on the cape of Tanjung Puting on the south coast of Central Kalimantan between the Sekunyer and Kumai rivers.
Tanjung Puting was the location of the first orangutan rehabilitation center in the country. There are now three centers where hundreds of orangutans have been rehabilitated and returned to the wild.
