THE relationship between Timor-Leste and Indonesian has been established for a long time. The country that sharesTimor Island with Indonesia was once part of its huge neighbor. Timor-Leste became an independent country in 2002 following a referendum in 1999. After that, the two countries worked together to build a good harmonious relationship, even though there have been many challenges as there were unresolved issues in the beginning.
