THE tsunami and earthquake catastrophe has permanently changed the face of Aceh. One of the more peculiar outcomes of the catastrophe is that Aceh has become more international in character. The only province in Indonesia to have enacted Islamic Syariah law into the existing legal system, Aceh now boasts the third largest concentration of foreign nationals living in Indonesia, following Jakarta and Bali.
