THE recent cases of acute kidney injuries in children have thrown spotlight on the performance of the Food and Drug Monitoring Agency (BPOM). The agency headed by Penny Lukito has been criticized for failing to effectively monitor the safety of the drugs in the market. As of last Thursday, October 24, a total of 269 acute kidney injury cases have been recorded, including 157 deaths.
