EDWARD Omar Sharif Hiariej’s legal career is quite extensive. He is a lecturer in law at Gadjah Mada University, Yogyakarta. At age 37, he became professor in criminal law. After gaining experience as an expert witness in various cases, ranging from criminal and corruption cases to electoral disputes, the 50-year-old man known as Eddy Hiariej assumed the position of Deputy Minister of Justice and Human Rights.
