Soybean Struggle
After being questioned and attacked from all sides, Trade Minister Gita Wirjawan has capitulated. Soybean trade will now be reformed and imports will be allowed.

A coordination meeting at the vice president's office two weeks ago turned argumentative. As Coordinating Economic Minister Hatta Rajasa addressed Trade Minister Gita Wirjawan, his voice was charged with emotion. "How can there be private importers allocated more than 210 tons, while the State Logistics Agency (Bulog), which has been given a special assignment, was only given 20,000 tons?" Hatta said during the meeting, as quoted by a Tempo source.
