Government’s Plan to Add Goods Subject to Excise Taxes

HARIYADI Sukamdani was taken aback by the government’s proposal to impose excise taxes on concert tickets. The Chairperson of the Indonesian Tourism Industry Association believes there is no strong justification for taxing concert tickets.
According to Hariyadi, excise taxes should be aimed at limiting the circulation of certain items that have negative impacts on health or the environment, such as alcoholic beverages and cigarettes.
