Every month hundreds of containers filled with secondhand clothes are unloaded in ports all over the country. The cheap apparel could endanger Indonesia's textile industry.

On a hot Friday last week the Senen sidewalk was bustling. A group of youngsters were jostling each other at a busy secondhand clothes counter. They did not notice the heat at all. Sweating profusely, they were intent on finding a bargain.
