Sand and Stones from Palu Bay for the Merauke Food Estate
Sand and stones from mining operations along the shores of Palu Bay are being sent to the Nusantara Capital City project in East Kalimantan, as well as to the Merauke food estate project.

THE roar of sand mining machines echoed along the banks of the Palu River in Sunju, Sigi Regency, Central Sulawesi, on Thursday, January 16, 2025. Each pump extended a pipe approximately six inches in diameter, which was inserted into the riverbed that flows into Palu Bay. Several men, bare-chested, were seen wading in the water to ensure the suction pipes were working properly.
