SUKIDI did not find real Islam in Indonesia. He found it in the United States instead, a country with a non-Muslim majority and the place of the three campuses where he researched Islam for almost two decades. It is also the place where the 47-year-old Muhammadiyah intellectual conceived a new approach to interpret the Qur’an.
