Unrepresentative Representatives

Matori and Hartono have stayed in the House of Representatives (DPR), and even took part in the recent Special Session of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR). What makes their action unique? Both have been expelled from the parties they are supposed to represent.

Although the advanced MPR Special Session that impeached President Abdurrahman Wahid is over, the historic event has left some constitutional problems lingering. First and foremost among them is the fact that the 1945 Constitution makes no mention at all of any provision for an MPR Special Session or the impeachment of a president.
