A TREADMILL is set up in a hallway. A ping-pong table is not far away. Some men work out after the midday prayer. Another is preoccupied with a laptop computer.

Don’t get the wrong impression. This is not a cafe or fitness center at one of Jakarta’s malls. This is daily fare for scores of criminals convicted in a number of terrorism cases, currently in detention at Jakarta Police Headquarters.
