Changes within the Indonesian Military (TNI) have not gone smoothly. A number of one- and two-star generals were indeed reshuffled two weeks ago, including one general with a problem. The surprise appointment was Major General Sjafrie Sjamsuddin, Jakarta garrison commander during the May 1998 riots, who was appointed chief of the TNI information office. More importantly, there is still no word on who will replace navy admiral Widodo when his
