THE fact that Ahmadiyah followers have been forced to apply for political asylum in Australia should not be ignored, and it does not deserve to be the butt of cynical comments by the Religious Affairs Minister. This request for asylum creates the impression that a religious group has suffered oppression. More seriously, the state is seen as being unable to defend the right of Ahmadiyah followers to live in safety like other people.
