Rebuilding Without Intrigue
BRR has been the target of protests over its slow progress of rebuilding and rehabilitating Aceh. If Aceh is to recover rapidly, it needs a working authority.

IT has been two years since the tsunami struck and Aceh is yet to recover. The suffering has not gone away. Residents who lost their homes have yet to find a permanent shelter and roads destroyed in the calamity remain unrepaired. The Aceh Rehabilitation & Reconstruction Agency (BRR), set up by presidential decree in the aftermath of the tragedy, has been charged with being slow on the job. The entire burden was placed on this agency.
