MOHAMMAD Natsir seems to have come from a faraway country, where politicians fought for the interests of the people they represented. They stuck to the ideologies of their respective parties. They debated fiercely, but used polite language to do so, and later they would have friendly conversations with their political opponents over a cup of coffee during recess. They fought with words, but joined hands when facing the Dutch colonialists.
