The Collapse of Our Constitutional Court

The sanctions imposed on Guntur Hamzah and the selection of the Constitutional Court chief justice damage the authority of the institution. This is the unfortunate collapse of one of the products of the 1998 Reformasi.

THERE is no longer any respect for the Constitutional Court. Established to examine the constitutionality of legislative products from the government and the House of Representatives (DPR), one of the products of the 1998 Reformasi has now moved further away from the aims of its founders.

The decline of the Constitutional Court was even more apparent from the ruling of the Honorary Council investigating the conduct of Constitutional Judge Guntur
