SOS Over Inadequate Funding
The 2001 state budget has handed the fate of education in Indonesia over to regional governments. The consequences are potentially disastrous for the quality of education.

Having been allocated merely 3.8 percent of the total 2001 state budget plan (RAPBN), the Indonesian education sector faces a questionable future. Previous years have seen an average 7 percent of the national budget (APBN) allocated to education. This year, education will be among one of the sectors sacrificed, as a result of the continuing economic crisis in Indonesia.
