POETS are a flaw. They should be expelled from Kallipolis. When Plato imagined the ideal state in his Republic, he placed philosophy as the power holder, and poetry as the agitator. “We must not take such poetry seriously as a serious thing that lays hold on truth,” Plato wrote.
