Clarification from the Village Ministry
WE would like to respond to the Noise-Makers and Underperformers news report published in Tempo's March 14-20, 2016 edition, page 16, about the low realization of 2015's village funds of Rp20 trillion based on the assessment from the Indonesia Forum for Budget Transparency, and the accusation of politicization behind village assistant placements. These two issues could mislead the public because they are not based on facts. Our clarification is as follows:
Prudential's Response
WITH regards to the letter titled Disappointed by Prudential, as written in November 2015 by Mr. Yonny, in which he said that during the filing process of a life insurance proposal for his mother (SPAJ), the would-be policy holder had explained her medical records to our marketing staff. However, the SPAJ signed by the would-be policy holder did not contain the corresponding medical records.
On National Defense
RECENTLY the government announced a national defense program that recalls the former student military regiment training. However, there needs to be a new implementation system so that there will no longer be military activities followed by a military command post at campus.
Reject the Revision of the Oil and Gas and the Mineral Resources and Coal Laws
I AM afraid that the Joko Widodo administration is aiming for the destruction of the energy, mining and oil and gas sectors. The energy and mineral resources ministry and the coordinating ministry for maritime affairs are now prioritizing the revision of the oil and gas law and the mineral resources and coal law. These two laws are sacred to the nation's fate. Reportedly, the ministry will establish three state-owned enterprises (SOEs) in the oil and gas sector. Upstream, there is a special SOE, a reincarnation of SKK Migas, the oil and gas supervisory agency, in charge of regulations. Downstream, there is Pertamina and the PGN (state gas company), which will become a SOE in charge of gas affairs.
Jokowi's Criticism
PERHAPS there is some truth in President Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo's statement on Press Day, February 9, when he criticized online media for being for careless in checking the accuracy of reported news. The online media has so much freedom that one can find anything: from news that has not been verified to sources that are unclear. Maybe this is because it is a new era, where the Internet cannot be contained or censored.
