Nyoman Nuarta’s Sculpture of the Sky

Endless innovations seem to flow from his artistic pursuits. This time sculptor Nyoman Nuarta has tried to recreate waves, the sky and horizon.
Transforming the sky, horizon and waves into sculptures? It seems a bit absurd. But it’s nothing unusual for Nyoman Nuarta. The 50-year-old fine-artist has displayed them in a solo exhibition themed Sekala dan Niskala (Real and Unreal Spaces). The unique works were adapted from his Balinese spirituality and beliefs. The exhibition took place from September 14 to 28 at Edwin’s Gallery, Jakarta, presenting 28 objects of art.
