Like masks and protective gear, reagents needed to detect the novel coronavirus became scarce when the Covid-19 pandemic took hold in March-April 2020. This emergency situation was the Indonesian government’s reason for buying whatever reagents available.
THE way the government, especially the health minister, underestimated the novel coronavirus had influenced how the country response to the pandemic when virus arrived. The National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) then took over the countermeasures including the procurement of reagents.
