High Riding Tax Officials

Several tax officials are allegedly living the grand life and publicly flaunting their wealth. They establish communities of big motorbike and golfing.

THE instruction came from Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati on Sunday, February 26. The minister’s directive to staff at the directorate-general of tax was triggered by a video clip appearing on social media of Tax Director-General Suryo Utomo depicting him cruising on his big motorbike. The clip showed Suryo and members of the Belasting Rijder, a community of tax officials with a penchant for big bikes.
