How Pratikno Remains Powerful at UGM Although He is No Longer the Rector

Pratikno helped Joko Widodo rise to the office of Solo Mayor in 2005. He retained his clout at UGM although he was no longer a rector.

BEFORE entering the Palace in 2014, Pratikno had a role in the transition of the government from President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono to Joko Widodo. A postgraduate lecturer of the University of Indonesia, Andrinof Chaniago, shared that Pratikno along with him and Cornelis Lay, a professor of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Gadjah Mada University (UGM), Yogyakarta, joined Jokowi’s Team of Three.
