THE sun had just risen when Tempo arrived at Jogokariyan Mosque in Yogyakarta on the morning of Thursday, March 6, 2025. Traces of pre-dawn prayer activities were still visible. Some congregants sat on the terrace reading the Qur’an, while others performed the optional ishrak (sunrise) prayer inside. A small group gathered for a religious study session.
