The court’s dismissal of graft charges against former strongman Suharto has received strong response from the people. Bloody clashes erupted between pro- and anti-Suharto protesters. Tens of people were injured and one died during the violence.

As was the case with the two previous trials of Suharto, during the court proceedings on Thursday last week, people started their own version of street justice.
