Around 14.42 million people will return home during the Lebaran holidays. The improving economic situation has caused aircraft passenger numbers to rocket and hotel occupancy rates to rise.
UNLIKE previous years, 12 days before the Lebaran holiday to mark the end of the fasting month, the Gambir central train station in Jakarta is still deserted. There are no crowds of waiting passengers and the ticket counters are free from the usual queues of people chasing tickets.
