Rice Import Tap Opened

THE government has eventually opened the rice import tap. This step has been taken in order to add to national rice reserves of which next month it is expected only 920,000 tons will remain. The rice reserve requirement has increased as a result of a speeding up in the distribution of rice for the poor that has doubled in a month to around 180,000 tons.
