Vietnam Rice Imports

THE government is to import 70,050 tons of rice from Vietnam this month. Trade Minister Mari Elka Pangestu has authorized the importation of a total of 250,000 tons of rice to meet the countrys requirements.

The decision has drawn protests from the Indonesian Farmers Association (HKTI). Chairman Agusdin Pulungan charged the government with non-transparency in the issuance of the import license to Bulog, the State Logistics Agen
