Why Subsidies Failed to Boost Electric Vehicle Sales

REGISTRATION forms for the government-assisted motorcycle conversion program piled up at the Elders Garage office, Jakarta. Some 800 applications were submitted to the workshop that converts conventional motorcycles into electric motorcycles. Elders, however, will only process five of them. “We will test them first,” Saugi, Elders’ Marketing Manager, told Tempo on Thursday, August 3.
